Sold out - brand new Special available again at the beginning of March.
As long as it lasts: Treat yourself with a surprise!
For our “Special” we only buy one bag a time from small producers or cooperatives who are producing outstanding and sustainable coffee. Once this bag is used up, we are excited to introduce you to something else, which is equally new and special.
We do enjoy sourcing these new coffees which are - as always - exceptional in their quality and fair trade. These are also very rare beans that come straight from the most remote corners of the world.
Red Bourbon (100% Arabica)
1600 - 2200 Meters
Small farmers from the region
TASTING NOTES AS BLEND
White chocolate, honey, caramel, very sweet
We were looking for a very sweet African espresso as our new special. Thanks to our friends from the the Kafischmitte in Emmental, we got to know about these special beans and we bought a few bags together. We roast the beans medium to keep the original flavours but long enough to add sweetness with a supportive acidity for a vibrant drinking experience.
For a balanced espresso experience, we recommend 19g in / 42-45g out in 35 seconds.
David Rubanzangabo studied agronomy and worked for USAID to develop rural agriculture in his home country. After teaching producers, he bought land in his home district of Huye, planted his own trees and built a post-harvest station. Very quickly, he attracted other farmers whom David also trained and who use his post-harvest facility. Currently, David runs two post-harvest facilities that serve more than 1000 farmers in the region.
Thanks to David's initiative to strengthen the community, many smallholder farmers are now benefiting, for example from improved coffee quality, clean water and health insurance.
